KANAKAN
- A ONCE THRIVING VILLAGE
It's closest town is Fasa,
South of Shiraz.
Since my first visit in 1967 water seems to have dried up. In those days
the village supported a lot
of people. Unlike the grand house of the photographs, those left
live in comfortable modern,air-
conditioned houses with electricity and piped in water. There are still lots of luscious
pome-
granates and oranges and the date palm groves seem still to do well.

Modern house complete with
electricity, water, airconditioning, television, broadband and in many
cases a satellite dish (Not strictly permitted but on the
whole tolerated by the authorities)
Oh, and not forget the fruit garden, pomegranates and many kind of apples
- dates as well of course
