KANAKAN - A ONCE THRIVING VILLAGE
It's closest town is Fasa, South of Shiraz.
Since my first visit in 1967 water seems to have dried up. In those days the village supported a lot
of people. Unlike the grand house of the photographs, those left live in comfortable modern,air-
conditioned houses with electricity and piped in water. There are still lots of luscious pome-
granates and oranges and the date palm groves seem still to do well.

The grand house where the head of the village lived.  In the foreground is what is left of the pool
where children could splash about and cool off during hot summer days

Modern house complete with electricity, water, airconditioning, television, broadband and in many
cases a satellite dish (Not strictly permitted but  on the whole tolerated by the authorities)
Oh, and not forget the fruit garden, pomegranates and many kind of apples - dates as well of course
