Most of the
panoramas on this page were taken in the Old Town with its narrow, car
free lanes, but loads of bikes and mopeds (and the occasional donkey
cart). Most of the photographs on this page were shot in the Old
Town there is much more to Marrakech than that, both new and old and the
old Colonial French Quarter too.

Tour de Moroc. Apologies
to the old fellow and his doppelgangers. If he ever sees this I hope he
will see the funny side. What isn't funny is an act of sabotage which took
place a couple of years after this panorama was shot in the Old Town's
main square. One of the favourite tourist restaurants was blown up.
I think it was the Terrace Panoramique the signpost of which can be
seen one advertising Residence La Place easilly seen in the
panorama.

This ruin is
interesting in several ways. The crumbling brickwork demonstrates why
Marrakech is known as the Pink City., the clay from which they were made
is red. Today with modern rendering there is quite a bit of cheating as is
evidenced by the house, Riad, to the side of the ruin. The houses were
built around an inner courtyard without roof to cool the living space.
From the outside this is not usually evident but the ruin tells it all
including a balcony replacing a corridor to upper rooms.
